Storage

Office BookcaseAn organised office space helps to create a more organised mind and increased productivity. Because you will probably spend a fair amount of time in your office and in front of your desk, clutter will accumulate. But it doesn’t have to degenerate into a mess. Having an organised storage system can mean more time on the job and less time finding misplaced items or clearing space to work. They key is to have the right office furniture and storage.

One tip is to store office supplies out of sight, perhaps in a hinged storage cupboard. Rather than filling up your drawers with spare pens and packets of paper, storing them in a cupboard means you will know exactly where everything is and leave only things that you need immediately in your desk.

Another tip is to have as little as possible on your desk. Having clear spaces is calming while having piles of clutter can increase stress levels. Store books, manuals, CDs and equipment (cables, headphones, etc) in a bookcase. Using an open bookcase  means you don’t have to have space for doors to open.

Filing

Filing CabinetsHaving your files stored appropriately will also contribute to increased productivity and decreased stress. Use a tray system for files you are currently using in order to access them quickly, and store the rest in a filing system. Filing systems can be either lateral and vertical. Vertical filing cabinets are suitable for limited floor space, with drawers arranged from top to bottom. If floor space is not an issue then lateral filing cabinets are an option, with widers drawers that allow you to file from side to side.

Mobile filing systems can also be handy solution if the business does not use a lot of files, or if you need certain files at hand. They are designed to slide under a desk or beside it.
